Hellenic Armed Forces CBRN Joint School

History of the School

The history of Hellenic Armed Forces CBRN Joint School begins in 1939, when the creation of a “Chemical Warfare Center” was determined, which was established in 1940 at the “SAKETA” camp (New Elvetia) under the name “Chemical Warfare School”.

On 1953, the “SPECIAL WEAPONS SCHOOL” was established under the General Staff in Elefsina.

On March 1954, the School was subordinated to the General Staff and renamed to “School of Atomic-Bio-Chemical Defense”.

On September 1956, the School was renamed the “Hellenic Armed Forces CBRN Joint School” and was relocated to various Camps in Attica, sometimes under the jurisdiction of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff and sometimes under the General Staff.

In 1990, it was subordinated to the General Staff and since June 19, 2006, it has been settled at Camp “GENERAL GEORGIOS KARAISKAKIS”.
