Colonel (INF) Ioannis Kalyviotis was born in Agioi Anargyroi in September 1975, and was raised in Trikala-Thessaly.
He was admitted in the Hellenic Army Academy in 1996, and graduated in 2000 as Infantry Second Lieutenant. In his military career, he has successfully served in various units at Battalion, Airborne Battalion and Mechanised Infantry Battalion, as Staff Officer at HQ NRDC-GR, as Commander in KFOR 3/10 in Kosovo, as well as Instructor at the Career NCO School.
He successfully graduated from all Schools and Courses provided for the Infantry, as well as from the Hellenic Army Command and General Staff College, the Supreme Joint War college and the Hellenic National Defence College, as Senior Officer. In addition, he successfully graduated from the Infantry Officers Basic Course (IOBC) in Fort Benning – USA, in 2005.
In May 2026 he was assigned to the Hellenic Armed Forces CBRN Joint School (SEOED), as Commander. He has been honoured with all the decorations, medals and service awards stipulated for his rank.
He speaks English.
